I’ve always been ambitious and driven by the desire to surround myself with people who are better than me. I studied econometrics at the Department of Probability and Mathematical Statistics at the Charles University Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, and after graduating, I wanted to do something that would have global ambition. While studying in Amsterdam, I learnt about various interesting applications of mathematics in finance, and financial mathematics struck me as a very appealing world, one with boundless possibilities and instant feedback.

Since then, I’ve been making Qminers the kind of place I’ve always wanted to be in. I can offer people continuous development, mutual encouragement and – exceptionally for our industry – a collaborative and friendly environment. We’re united by a passion to achieve excellence. I have high expectations of people, but I also make it my business to ensure they’re suitably rewarded. What it comes down to is that I want to work with the best in the field, whether that’s programming or data analysis. We’re lucky in the Czech Republic that my alma mater, among others, churns out excellent graduates with world-class knowledge.

Last but not least, we want to make money. A lot of money. Earning money so everyone makes a good living should be a consequence of and one of the essential criteria for success. But money isn’t the be-all and end-all. Every year, all our employees contribute to charity projects, and it gives me great pleasure to see the contributions increase year on year. On behalf of the company, I then match those employee donations one-to-one. Giving something back is a commitment we all take seriously here.
